The History of Durameter Pump and its Legacy Pump Models
Our story begins in Chicago, with the establishment in 1898 of the Hills-McCanna Company by Robert Hills and John McCanna Hills-McCanna Company manufactured valves, pumps and metal castings for the chemical and marine industries.
In 1928 Hills-McCanna established their pump division to specialize in chemical proportioning pumps and force feed lubricators.
Over the next several decades, Hills-McCanna Pumps product lines were expanded, new pumps were developed, and new brand and model names such as McCannatrol and McCannamite were adopted.
A major accomplishment was the introduction of the McCannatrol PD Series, the first of the double diaphragm metering pumps that would be a mainstay of production for many years.
The Duriron Company purchases the Hills-McCanna Pump business. Durco rebranded the metering pump lines as DurcoMeter.
After a brief stop in Warminster PA as part of Durco Pressure Products Division the company was relocated to Angola New York.
The Durco Metering Pump Group (MPG) was placed within the Durco Filtration Systems Division (FSD).
During this time Duriron developed the EV Evolution Series of Metering pumps, EV-1, EV-2 and EV-3.
In 1997, Duriron decided to sell The Durco Metering Pump business to Aquacare Systems.
Initially marketed as Aqua Care Pumps, the name was changed to The Durameter Pump Company.
In 2002, The Durameter Pump Company was acquired by Haskel International.
The Angola NY plant was shut down, and the entire business was relocated to Haskel International in Burbank California.
In 2005, Haskel International was acquired by Milton Roy Company.
As Milton Roy had no immediate plan to manufacture these older Durameter pump models, these were designated as Durameter Legacy Pumps.
In order to ensure that all existing customers using "Durameter" pumps from Hills-McCanna, Duriron, Aquacare and Durameter legacy would continue to be supported, Milton Roy Licensed Rutherford Pump Systems to manufacture and sell the Durameter Legacy Pumps.
